Researchers say that the Mankind had been worshiping the unknown "Power" since time immemorial.
Psychologists say there is an innate need by humans to be good. However there is a tendency to rebel against this innate need and deviate from doing good deeds, which leads the humans to be afraid of the incorrect result, which is primarily due to the bad deeds sown.
In this week's series we will touch upon the rebellion which results in Sin and how to become a believer despite the odds.
In the due course We will understand the biblical instances for rebellion and confession.
Rebellion and its result - Law of Sin
A very well known story of Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit. The Bible states that Sin entered the world through them. It is disobedience to LORD's commandment "Not to eat the Fruit of discernment" which makes Adam and Eve rebellious. Are there any other instances of rebellion? Well there are many in Bible and we will see few
Abel and Cain
Cain rebelled against the decision of LORD accepting Abel's offering and kills his Brother.
People of Israel under the leadership of Moses and Aaron
Israelites during their Exodus rebelled against God. They started to worship a calf, which was made of Gold that they brought as spoils from Egypt. This resulted in them taking a circuituous route in the wilderness to reach a place, which was just few days by foot, which took 40 years for them to reach. There are many instances where they rebelled to the point even stating "We were better off slaves in Egypt"Every instance we see Moses interceding with the LORD to forgive the Israel people, whom the LORD had brought out of Egypt with his Might Hand, performing Miracles and making them to cross Red Sea whilst the sea stood on either side as great walls of water.
People of Israel during the Judges Time
Time and again the Israelites sin against the LORD and LORD brings gentile nations against them. When they had been seiged, Israel repents and returns to the LORD, who raises judges within Israel to protect them during incursions, wars.
Rebellion and Interpretation according to convenience
Israel had been interpreting the Law given by Moses to their convenience. Whilst it was acceptable for killing enemies in war, killing your own brethren was forbidden. However see how Stephen was stoned to death and Saul, the Zealot for Jewish traditions accepted to persecute and Kill the believers of Jesus.
So interpreting the Law to our own convenience is also a rebellion.
THOU SHALL NOT KILL, is THOU SHALL NOT KILL.
Being Zealous to the LORD and killing for HIS religion is not permitted. Saul understood this later in his ministry as Paul.
Let us see the law of belief in the next article.
