The most basic truth that God wants to teach us regarding our money is that all of it belongs to Him. Whenever we use it selfishly, we rob God, since it rightfully belongs to Him. The first step in becoming detached from the love of money is to recognize that everything we have is His, and, therefore, we must consciously return our bank accounts to God. This will rid us of the notion that we can give God His portion on Sunday and, having fulfilled our duty, spend the rest on ourselves.
Many of us Christians still have two separate compartments in our minds. God gets His share, perhaps ten percent or less, and we get the rest. God gets one part, and we get nine. God can use His part as He wishes, and we can use our part as we wish. What more can God ask, especially with rising inflation. Answer: He asks for it all.
